Forms Composer / Documentation Specialist
OneBeacon Insurance Company, Canton, MA 5/06 – 10/09
OneBeacon had all of their policies and forms composed in proprietary fonts using computers that were running Windows 95 and Windows 3.1 – operating systems that did not require a True Type version of a font to display text within a document. These computers and their software were out of date and no longer in compliance with current network security, and the company required an upgrade to Windows XP. Because the company lacked TrueType versions of the proprietary fonts, all forms and policy pieces were recomposed and reformatted using standard Windows fonts. New variable data tags were inserted and new metacode was printed and loaded to the mainframe for testing.
· Created two electronic document libraries (EDLs) of approximately 5000 policy forms and "formlets" (portions of forms concatenated at print).
· Converted each form individually from Corel Ventura files into MS Word documents; reformatted the layout and inserted new BPSD (Boiler Plate Space Definition) variable data tags using Oracle Tag Commander.
· Used tags that contained barcode fonts and scanline fonts for bank scanning.
· Printed normalized Metacode with Oracle Print Commander and Virtual Raster Printer. Loaded the metacode onto the mainframe using Oracle’s VLAM COMMANDER for future concatenation during the DocuMerge cycle at print.
· Evaluated DocuMerge replacement options from Hewlett Packard, EMC and Oracle.
· Edited and executed Job Control Language (JCL) scripts via Attachmate Enterprise to update the proprietary DocM database of forms information and to output forms to a Xerox DocuMerge printer.
· Updated and maintained font matching tables and INI file required to rastorize fonts from their True Type vector origin and ensure proper output of the FNT bitmap fonts on the Xerox printer.
· Created samples for new forms based on the needs of internal and external customers.
· Tested new forms.
· Communicated timelines, progress, problems, and implementation dates through weekly reports and project status updates to management.
· Trained employees in Canton, MA and Philadelphia, PA, how to use the Oracle software.
· Developed and maintained documentation of the conversion processes using INFO Mapping techniques.
